CNN Chief White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta offers candid and inspiring remarks after receiving the 2018 William Randolph Hearst Award for "Outstanding Service in Professional Journalism." The honor is given each year by the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at San Jose State University thanks to an endowment from the Hearst Foundation. This community celebration focuses on the First Amendment rights of a free and independent press, and the responsibility of speaking truth to power in America on behalf of 'We The People.' For more than eighty years, the JMC School has been dedicated to the proposition that the free flow of ideas, together with accurate and timely information, is vital to the development and improvement of democratic societies. Graduates of this internationally known program, which offers degrees in journalism, advertising and public relations, are recognized for their innovative critical thinking, high standards and professional ethics, creative 21st century media technology skills and abilities, and global media leadership potential. The Coordinator of the SJSU Hearst Awards, and JMC School Special TV Productions is Journalism Professor Bob Rucker.
