Political science junior Zobeida Delgadillo, Associated Students director of legislative affairs and candidate for A.S. president, plans to use her experience in student government to bring campus organizations together and ensure that students get current and correct information about the COVID-19 pandemic.

A first-generation college student, Delgadillo has three years of experience in A.S., working in the human resources department during her freshman year, becoming a board member during her sophomore year and serving as director of legislative affairs during her junior year.

Her experience in student government has helped her become resourceful and she is well-equipped to be a leader students can look up to, Delgadillo said.

“I think I've grown a lot of different connections on campus,” she said. “I bring a lot of experience, knowledge and involvement on campus that has gotten me to procedures and opportunities to grow a lot of connections with different communities on our campus.”

Those connections will help her assist students in finding accurate and current information, Delgadillo said, which is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic since students can be deceived by misinformation on social media.

Delgadillo said she wants to make sure students understand the decisions A.S. makes, “because I know sometimes it’s really hard to understand why decisions are made.”
