Biological science sophomore Anoop Kaur is not only the current Associated Students director of Academic Affairs, she is also the first director of this new committee at San Jose State.

Running for the position again, she said she strongly believes her job as director is far from over and a second term will give her time to continue the work she has already started.

"If elected again, I will continue to prioritize the concerns of students and advocate for all educational needs,” Kaur said. “This past year, I have come to understand the power of advocacy and I hope to continue to inclusively voice the concerns of all students' needs.”

Her main goal for her second term is to increase recruitment for the committee. With Academic Affairs being a newer committee, Kaur wants to find passionate students from each college to help make changes to advising.

She also plans to make herself more accessible to students by holding office hours in multiple buildings throughout campus.

“As a first-generation college student, the privilege of pursuing higher education is very valuable to me and I will continue fighting for our educational rights," Kaur said.
