Interior design and architecture senior Joceyln Jones-Trammell said she wants to get involved with the San Jose State community to be a part of something bigger than herself.

“I like the idea of working in sustainability,” Jones-Trammell said. “That’s going to be a big part of my career . . . so I thought that I would do something like this.”

Running unopposed for the director of sustainability affairs, she said she plans to work toward sustainability literacy by working with the Environmental Resource Center and other organizations but did not go into detail about her plans.

“It would be working with these components of our campus to make sure that students graduate with the capacity to engage and enhance sustainability and themselves,” Jones-Trammell said.

She added that she may be running unopposed for the position, but it’s not because of a lack of student involvement.

“There’s already so many ways for a student to get involved [on] campus particularly in the realm of sustainability,” Jones-Trammell said. “We have the environmental resource center . . . There’s [also] a whole major dedicated to this. Maybe the position is kind of redundant in a sense.”

She said although SJSU is a leading college campus for sustainability, there is always room for improvement.
